Meditation Teacher in Minneapolis
You’re interested in meditation, but don’t know where to start. You’ve heard about all the benefits, but the idea of sitting down to do it makes you want to run and scream — and you don’t want one more thing to feel “bad” at!
You’re tired of feeling scattered, hard on yourself, and fearful of being alone with YOU.
Meditation does not have to be scary
I’m here to help! While I have been practicing meditation for over 13 years, I still remember so clearly what it felt like to get started — reading lots of books on meditation to try to find the answer (and maybe to avoid actually getting my ass on the cushion), experimenting with different techniques but feeling like I was doing it all wrong, and waiting for some big aha moment where my mind would feel clearer and more kind.
It wasn’t until I started learning directly from others about what the hell they were actually doing in there that I began to really understand how to practice, to get why it’s called a practice in the first place, and to experience the benefits.
While meditation is not a cure all, it has been a complete game changer for me. Full stop. Because of this, I truly nerd out on getting to help others learn the basics, develop a consistent practice (whatever that means for you!), and heal their relationship with themselves and their thoughts (because you are, in fact, not your thoughts!).

I love teaching complete newbies (and skeptics!) by breaking down the myths about meditation (spoiler alert: there is no being “bad” at meditation!), teaching specific meditation techniques, outlining strategies for developing a personalized practice, and answering questions that may come up.

I don’t know about you, but my grad school training kept pointing toward teaching mindfulness skills to therapy clients or in wellness workshops - but there was little to no instruction on how to actually do this, let alone emphasizing how developing a personal practice can be so helpful in being able to guide others. This workshop builds on my general Meditation 101 workshop to address specific concerns for therapists, such as how to guide clients through specific skills and what meditation strategies may be best for specific client concerns.

I provide brief psychoeducation on inner child work and how it can provide a healing experience for those younger parts of self to benefit the present. This is followed by very gentle movement and breathwork to help people get into their bodies before going through a guided visualization of meeting a younger version of self. Depending on group size, there can be discussion and connection after to process what came up and allow people to connect.

Built upon my original Inner Child Healing Workshop, this workshop specifically focuses on the experiences of LGBTQ+ people and the potentially less-than-optimal experiences from childhood where they may not have felt safe to be themselves and needed to hide as a form of self-protection.

I provide brief psychoeducation on grief and the vast array of grief experiences. I then guide some very gentle movement and breathwork to help people ground before leading a loving-kindness practice focused on experiences of grief. I recommend having a space for sharing afterwards to connect on what came up and to give and receive compassion about the universal experience of grief, even if the circumstances or experiences may feel different.
